| Atlantic Veterinary College

For the University of Prince Edward Island's Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) Class of 2024, walking across the stage to receive their white coats was the ultimate goal—the summit of a mountain that seemed so large four years ago.

Berry Genge, a fourth-year UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) student from Lewes, PEI, has been named a 2024 3M National Student Fellow by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada.

Dr. Jeffrey Collins, an adjunct professor at UPEI, has been selected to participate in the Action Canada Fellowship program.

Members of the UPEI community filled the UPEI Performing Arts Centre on May 23, 2024, to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues. During the event, the University Awards of Excellence and 25-Year Service Awards were presented.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance M. Drew, visited the UPEI campus on May 22, 2024, for a brief meeting with Dr. Greg Keefe, UPEI’s interim president and vice-chancellor.

UPEI's Dr. Xander Wang has been awarded $1.65 million from NSERC's CREATE program for a project called “NSERC CREATE Training Network for CLImate Smart Agriculture (CLISA).”

The UPEI Healthy Campus Committee is hosting a Staff and Faculty Coffee Break and Wellness Check on Friday, May 24, from 10:00 am to noon at the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering building.

The excitement and pride were palpable at the University of Prince Edward Island this past week when the Class of 2024 graduated with their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

A group of 11 UPEI students are currently at the University of Burgos in northern Spain, delving into understanding how heritage can be a key resource in promoting sustainable economic development in rural areas. The students are accompanied by Dr. Melissa James, director of undergraduate programs, UPEI Faculty of Business, and Sherilyn Acorn, manager of the Study and Stay and exchange programs, Office of Study Abroad and International Collaboration.

Paul Young, Chief Operating Officer for the UPEI Faculty of Medicine, was named one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada during an awards gala on May 9 at the Delta Hotel St. John’s Conference Centre.
