The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island is pleased to congratulate Drs. Fred Kibenge and Jason Stull on being appointed to the inaugural Associate Editor Board for the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) and the American Journal of Veterinary Research (AJVR).

U SPORTS has announced that the 15th edition of Shoot for the Cure will be held virtually once again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from January 17–30, 2022. The UPEI Women’s Basketball team, led by student-athletes Madison Orser and Lauren Rainford, is joining the effort by taking its fundraising initiatives online.

Alyson Brown’s path to the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) was not a conventional one. Growing up just outside of Saint John, New Brunswick, Brown always knew she wanted to help people whether through human or animal medicine. It wasn’t until she was well into her undergraduate degree at the University of New Brunswick Saint John that she had an opportunity to work with Dr. Jim Kieffer, a fish physiologist, who specializes in shortnose and Atlantic sturgeon.

In a message to the University community, President Keefe announced that the UPEI Senate has decided that teaching and learning for the 2022 Winter Academic Semester will continue to be delivered online until February 27, 2022.

Dr. Katherine Gottschall-Pass, interim vice-president academic and research at UPEI, has announced the appointment of Dr. Jean Mitchell as the next UNESCO Chair in Island Studies and Sustainability at the University. Dr. Mitchell is an associate professor of anthropology at UPEI with extensive research and project experience in Indonesia, India, and the South Pacific nations of Kiribati, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu.
