The University of Prince Edward Island launched a $15-million fundraising campaign to revitalize the Robertson Library on Friday, April 26, as part of “Good News Week at UPEI.”
 

Each year, the UPEI Co-operative Education Program recognizes its exceptional students and employers with the UPEI Co-op Awards. Winners of the 2023 awards were Roshna Roby, UPEI Science Co-op Student of the Year; Ruth Cano, UPEI Arts Co-op Student of the Year; Sev Thi, UPEI Business Co-op Student of the Year; and Pamela MacEachern, Pensions and Capital Management Division of the Government of PEI, Co-op Employer of the Year.

As part of “Good News Week at UPEI,” the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prince Edward Island is excited to officially launch its $10-million fund- and friend-raising campaign.

The University of Prince Edward Island honoured Dr. Don and Mrs. Marion McDougall at an event today after it was announced they will donate a further $3 million to the Faculty of Business. Immediately following the announcement, Dr. Greg Keefe, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, revealed that the Faculty will now be known as the “McDougall Faculty of Business.”

As part of “Good News Week at UPEI,” the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is excited to announce the launch of Phase 2 of its AVC Veterinary Teaching Hospital expansion project.

The University of Prince Edward Island launched its new student entrepreneurship hub at an official grand opening event today. Named in honour of UPEI’s former chancellor, the innovation hub will offer unique learning opportunities and programs that support student entrepreneurship and provide access for community partners to connect with on-campus talent.

UPEI Panthers Field Hockey coach Lacey MacLauchlan was the Assistant Coach for Team Canada’s under-17 female team for a recent ten-day tour of the Netherlands. The trip marked her coaching debut with the national program.

Recently, a few members of the Faculty of Medicine team attended the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) in Vancouver, which is the premier Canadian meeting for medical schools and medical education with over 1,250 participants. It was fun being one of the new kids on the block, and attendees were very interested in and enthusiastic about what is happening at UPEI. 

Paige Campbell, a Bachelor of Environmental Studies student at UPEI, is marking Earth Day, April 22, with a painting of species at risk on PEI.

UPEI is glad to share the news that Dr. Sobia Ali-Faisal has been appointed as the new Director of EDI and Human Rights for the University, effective May 21, 2024, and that Patti Wheatley has been appointed as the new Human Rights Counsel for UPEI, effective June 3, 2024.
