At UPEI we continually work to ensure a safe learning environment for students. The following information is provided to promote your personal safety.

Emergency
In situations that require an immediate response from Emergency Services, such as Fire/Police/Ambulance, call 9-911 if using a UPEI phone, or 911 if using a cell or off-campus phone.

UPEI Security Services
For general safety inquiries or concerns, call 566-0384. If you need immediate assistance from UPEI Security, call the HELP LINE at 629-4357.

Elevator Emergency Phones
When any elevator phone is activated on campus, it automatically connects to the Security Services HELP LINE.

No-cost Pay Phones
Anyone on campus can contact Security Services from a pay phone at no cost by dialing 566-0384.

Emergency Poles
There are five blue emergency poles on campus with direct voice access to the Security Services office (see upei.ca/misc/map.pdf for locations.)

Campus Alone
This is a UPEI program for people who study or work alone on campus outside normal hours (i.e., evenings, nights, and weekends). Anyone studying or working alone may contact Security Services at 566-0384 and provide his/her contact information, exact location, and estimated time of departure. Security Services will make every effort to visit all those who register. If any immediate safety concern arises, call the HELP LINE at 629-4357.

Workplace Safety Policies
The University has developed a Working Alone policy, a Fair Treatment policy, and a Violence Prevention and Response policy. Details are available at upei.ca/policy.
