| Athletics

UPEI Track and Field competitor Alaere Peterside will compete in the U SPORTS Track and Field Championship this weekend in Winnipeg. The championship is being hosted by the University of Manitoba at the James Daly Fieldhouse from March 7–9, 2024.

The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is pleased to welcome Scott Gosse as the new manager of Security Services. Gosse will oversee a variety of operations that serve to protect and provide for the ongoing safety of the people, property, and information resources of the University community.

The 2024 Summer Job and Career Fair, hosted by UPEI’s Experiential Education department, will take place on March 13, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

The UPEI Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness, held its Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 27, 2024, at the UPEI Performing Arts Centre. The ceremony was a celebration of 67 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 16 first-year accelerated nursing students.

Dr. Edward MacDonald, CM, an award-winning professor of history at UPEI and Island historian, will give his “last lecture” to students in UPEI’s University 100 program on Wednesday, March 13, at 4:30 pm in SDU Main Building, Room 117.

In January 2024, the Atlantic Veterinary College’s dairy vet team again went to Kenya as part of the partnership between Farmers Helping Farmers.

An organizing committee, made up of UPEI faculty and staff, has announced that a full-day Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigenization, and Decolonization (EDIID) Symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Dr. Carla DiGiorgio's new book, Inclusive Education: A Global Perspective, will be launched on March 12 at 4:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.

| Athletics

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for February 19–25, 2024, are Alaere Peterside (women’s track and field) and Colin Blanchard, Sidiki Diakite, Owen Headley, and John David (men’s track and field relay team).
