The UPEI Office of Commercialization, Industry, and Innovation is hosting a Research Breakfast on Thursday, February 29, from 7:30–9:00 am, at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, McMillan Hall (Room 110). 

| Athletics

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for February 12–18, 2024, are Sydney Cummins (women’s basketball) and Jace Colley (men’s basketball).

The University of Prince Edward Island received the sad news on Friday that Dr. Greg Irvine, a dedicated member of the University community, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

UPEI and Health PEI have released the findings of the health system capacity report that was commissioned to understand and catalogue the health care system’s capacity to successfully integrate medical learners from the UPEI Faculty of Medicine into the PEI health system.

Christine Higdon, writer, editor, graphic designer, rug hooker, and intersectional feminist, will talk about her artistic practice and read from her new novel, Gin, Turpentine, Pennyroyal, Rue, at The Gallery Coffee Shop on Great George Street, Charlottetown, on Tuesday, March 5, at 7:00 pm. The evening is sponsored by the UPEI Faculty of Arts and The Bookmark. Admission is free.

Creative PEI will host a public reception for “Calamity: A Torrent and a Trickle,” a solo exhibition featuring drawings by Climate Artist-in-Residence Lisa Theriault, at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (CCCCA), St. Peter’s Bay, on Saturday, February 17, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Reilly Sullivan, an honours biology student at the University of Prince Edward Island, has been awarded a $5,000 McCall MacBain Regional Award. 

| Atlantic Veterinary College

Four fourth-year doctor of veterinary medicine students from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) travelled to Meru County, Kenya, where they worked with smallholder farmers to enhance the health, productivity, and living conditions for dairy cattle and donkeys.
